Tania Bornman has been manufacturing handmade jewelry in diamonds, gold, silver, gemstones and tanzanite since 1994.
My love for elephant hair jewelry started when we opened our shop in St Lucia, Wetlands Park Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
The beauty of nature was amazing! We discovered the qualities of elephant hair and were amazed not only by the smooth texture but also by the black colour with contrasting brown colours in between. The elephant hair’s uniqueness not only complimented the silver or gold but also rounded each other off with it a neat, clean and minimalistic look, which produced a bold royal look to it. The unique quality and texture really catches your eye no matter what design you produce .The quality of craftsmanship is very important to me and every piece is made to perfection to add to the beauty of the jewelry.
The black and white contrasting colour of the porcupine pens combined with the bushman art cut out on some of the pieces, enhances the African feel and helps us celebrate our inheritance.
Most of the designs have an African Safari feel to it because of my love and heart for Africa, especially SOUTH AFRICA where I was born.
The African theme designs with their earthy texture and colours of black, white and brown combined with silver/gold does not only provide a beautiful contrast, but also compliments and add a wonderfully and unique flavour to any high fashion outfit.
The most important for me is to design and make every jewelry piece with love!
